The hush of heaven holds my heart today

As I am led upon a Holy Way

To know the peace God has prepared for me

I offer up my life to Heaven's Way

God's Holy peace surrounds me silently

A hush so pure I know my soul to be

The Soul of God sent here to show the way

To hold all hearts in heaven's hush today

I join my heart to hearts along the Way

Together we will honour Glory's place

Where hearts unite in stillness and in love

And rest in Heaven's Holy Hush always.

Marvels of mother nature

Just like the next person, I'd love to get quick money. Yes, I said it! Get rich quick with as little effort as possible or none at all but that does not by any means mean that I am a lazy. With that said, there are things I wouldn't be tempted to do even if the price was £1M.

While flipping through the channels last night I came across a reality show. I do love reality tv so name it and chances are I've probably watched it. This one however brought the term reality tv to a whole new level altogether. This was done in the US and the contestants would win a cool $50, 000 for a meal. Just watch the soup being made...puree, a little bit of colouring and served.

Easy right? Wrong!! Rat soup. Can you believe that? Fancy eating a rat. And eat or should I say drink the soup they did.

Racism or Freedom of Speech?

I consider myself a very open minded person so I'm all for freedom of speech but sometimes this quality of mine is put to the test and I wonder whether I'm just another ultra conservative because I'm of the opinion that sometimes, there should be limits to freedom of speech.

Over the past few weeks, I've closely followed the story of one Dr Frank Ellis. A lecturer of Russian and Slavonic studies at the University of Leeds. Why all the fuss you may ask. Well, this man is an ardent supporter of The Bell Curve. A book that claims that race and intelligence are interrelated. Intelligence being dependent on race. While the book has been dismissed by many as scientific racism, Dr Ellis is quoted here stating that "there is a persistent gap in average black and white average intelligence". As if this wasn't enough, he goes on to insult Africans as a whole by saying that "in the West, an individual with an IQ of 70 would be regarded as being very close to, or within the range of, mental retardation". This is in reference to claims that the average IQ in the African continent was 70.

This is not the first time Dr Ellis finds himself in the headlines for supporting a right wing view. It is reported that 5 years ago, he spoke at the American Renaissance Conference in the USA. A meeting that attracts among others, fraternal organisations like the Ku Klux Klun.

While I do respect his right to freedom of speech, and give him credit for publicly stating his stand, his views leave a rather bitter taste in my mouth. I was initially disgusted that the university in my opinion supported him by not taking any action against him despite the public outcry to have him sacked. Three weeks down the line, it seems the university is distancing itself from him and suspended him.

So today I finally got cornered into setting this up after months of procrastination. Eh! Yaani I've actually set up a blog...still don't believe it. All that's left now is to figure this blogging thing out now. On second thoughts, I guess I've sort of got that covered having reached this far.
